INSIDE TUDOR

THE BRAND IS BORN

The Geneva-based watch dealer and manufacturer "Veuve de Philippe Hüther" filed the trademark "The TUDOR" in February 1926 on behalf of Hans Wilsdorf, the creator of Rolex. The house subsequently transferred the brand to Wilsdorf in 1936. Hans Wilsdorf realized it was time to grow the brand and give it a distinct character shortly following World War II. He founded "Montres TUDOR S.A." on March 6, 1946, with a focus on male and female models. Technical, aesthetic, and practical qualities, as well as distribution and after-sale support, would all be guaranteed by Rolex.

TUDOR History

“For some years now, I have been considering the idea of making a watch that our agents could sell at a more modest price than our Rolex watches, and yet one that would attain the standard of dependability for which Rolex is famous. I decided to form a separate company, with the object of making and marketing this new watch. It is called the TUDOR watch company.”

- H. Wilsdorf

JAY CHOU

In a short film, TUDOR showcases Jay Chou's audacious and inventive nature by having him drive a sports vehicle on a historic oval racetrack in Montlhéry, France, ultimately causing him to drift across time. The film sparks a discussion on how renowned images from the past influence modern innovation in watchmaking, music, and other art forms. It draws inspiration from the fantastical worlds Jay Chou is known for creating via his work as well as from epic time-traveling movie narratives from the 1980s. The most dedicated followers of Chou will also notice the reference to one of his previous films, in which he played an auto fanatic.
